SAY AAAH! THE STRIPED MACKEREL

Published

on

The Striped Mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) is a fascinating fish that feeds by filtering tiny organisms from the water.

This small, sleek fish can be found in tropical and subtropical waters, and is an important part of many marine ecosystems.

One of the most interesting things about the striped mackerel is the way it feeds. Rather than actively pursuing prey, this fish swims with its mouth open, using its gill rakers like a net to filter out tiny zooplankton from the water. Zooplankton are small, animal-like organisms that drift in the ocean, and the striped mackerel is able to feed on them by swimming with its mouth open and filtering them out of the water.

THE TOP 5 MOST EXTREME DOORS IN THE WORLD AND WHERE THEY ARE LOCATED

These are five world-famous doors boasting some ‘extreme’ credentials!

NASA Vehicle Assembly Building

The world’s largest doors are reputed to be those of the NASA Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Centre, on Merritt Island, Florida. The building is the fourth largest structure in the world by volume – and actually the largest when originally completed in 1965.

Each of its four doors measure 139 metres (that’s 456 feet) high. In contrast, the Statue of Liberty is only 93 metres high, making these some extreme doors indeed! Because of their impressive stature, the doors take 45 minutes to open or close.

NASA's mobile launcher, atop crawler-transporter 2, begins the move into High Bay 3 at the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) on Sept. 8, 2018, at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mobile launcher departed Launch Pad 39B after several days of testing with the pad. This is the first time that the modified mobile launcher made the trip to the pad and the VAB. The mobile launcher will spend seven months in the VAB undergoing testing. The 380-foot-tall structure is equipped with the crew access arm and several umbilicals that will provide power, environmental control, pneumatics, communication and electrical connections to the agency's Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft. Exploration Ground Systems is preparing the ground systems necessary to launch SLS and Orion on Exploration Mission-1, missions to the Moon and on to Mars.

Cheyenne Mountain Complex, Colorado Springs

Cheyenne Mountain Complex is a military installation and nuclear bunker located in Colorado Springs at the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, which hosts the activities of several squadron units.

Employees based here work behind two extreme 25-ton doors, which can withstand a 30-megaton blast. To put that into perspective, ‘Fat Man’, the bomb dropped on Nagasaki would have to explode 1,429 times to crack the entrance. The offices there are buried 2,000 feet into the mountain’s granite – so deep that air has to be pumped inside! That air, however, is the cleanest in the world, as it is processed by a state-of-the-art system of chemical, biological, and nuclear filters.

Bank of England gold vault

Looking like something straight out of a film set, the UK’s largest gold vault – second in the world only to the Federal Reserve in New York – stores 4,600 5152 tons of gold. The extreme, bombproof door is unlocked via a sophisticated voice recognition system, aided by multiple three-foot-long keys.

The bank won’t actually reveal how heavy the door is or how deep down the vault is buried, but it does have more floor space than London’s Tower 42, which is a 47-story building!

Fort Knox

Another of the world’s most secure vault doors is at the Fort Knox bullion depository, located within the Fort Knox US army base south of Louisville in Kentucky. The depository contains over 4,000 tonnes of gold bullion inside a granite-lined vault, which is protected by an extreme, blast-proof door weighing 22 tonnes.

If that wasn’t extreme enough, no single person is entrusted enough with the entire combination required to open the vault; ten members of the depository staff must dial in different combinations, each known only to them.

Casa de Nariño

Fitted to the home of the President of Colombia, as well as numerous embassies around the world, are these extreme security doors from Technoimport. These doors have been specially designed to resist attack by burglars and rival gangs.

The door is made from steel and is bulletproof (it will stop a Magnum 57 bullet), as well as unable to be cut through with cutting or welding equipment. It is also fireproof and designed to withstand explosives! The door locks in ten places and operated via a biometric fingerprint lock, which automatically checks for blood flow to ensure the finger is attached to a living human!

WHY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IS THE WORLD’S STRONGEST AND MOST ORGANIZED

Published

on

The Catholic Church is the strongest and most organized institution in the world to date.

The structure of the church is such that no human person, including the Pope, is bigger than the Church.

The church has survived for more than 2,000 years now.

The church spends so much on the education of its priests. The priestly formation is a very thorough and rigorous program. To be a priest, you must at least have a bachelor in philosophy and theology. Some formations incorporate psychology, human development, spirituality, and other secular courses.

The record-keeping of the church is top-notch. The original manuscript of all the writings of the early disciples and the Scriptures are all in the possession of the church, properly kept.

If you attend weekly masses for two years, you are likely to have read the entire bible. The scriptural readings taken at mass in your village are the same that was read everywhere in the world that day.

There is order, there is discipline; this is why you can confidently trust the church.

The strength of the Catholic Church is the reason why Christianity will continue to flourish. . . And of course, that strength is a testament to the fact that the Catholic Church was not founded by any human person.

DSS-EFCC FACE OFF: CONTENTIOUS PROPERTY (15A AWOLOWO ROAD IKOYI) BIRTHPLACE OF NSO-DSS – AFUNANYA

Published

on

…Says no rivalry between the Service and the EFCC who are partners working for the good of the nation.

The Department of the State Security Service, DSS, Tuesday denied reports making the round that its officials engaged in a fight with the officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC over Lagos property.

Reports have emerged this morning that DSS prevented officials of the anti-graft agency from gaining access to their office in Ikoyi, Lagos.

It was reported that the said building was barricaded by secret agents and an armoured tank was parked at the front of the building.

Reacting to the report in a statement sent to Vanguard, Peter Afunanya PhD fsi, Public Relations Officer, Department of State Services, faults the report, noting that DSS was only occupying its facility where it is carrying out its official and statutory responsibility.

He advised the general public to dismiss the purported report, noting that DSS was never in a fight with EFCC.

His words: “The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to some media reports that it barricaded the EFCC from entering its Lagos office. It is not correct that the DSS barricaded EFCC from entering its office. No. It is not true. The Service is only occupying its own facility where it is carrying out its official and statutory responsibility.

“By the way, there is no controversy over No 15A Awolowo Road as being insinuated by the Media. Did the EFCC tell you it is contesting the ownership of the building? I will be surprised if it is contesting the ownership. Awolowo Road was NSO headquarters. SSS/DSS started from there. It is common knowledge. It is a historical fact. Check it out.

“There is no rivalry between the Service and the EFCC over and about anything. Please do not create any imaginary ones. They are great partners working for the good of the nation. Dismiss any falsehood of a fight.”
