Today is Sunday and many would be in the church offering worship, supplications and thanksgiving to God, for various reasons.

For the Dan Shere family and their friends and associates, it is thanksgiving and celebration, in respect of the inimitable Osondu Shere, his wife and their mother, and friend of many rich parts.

Osondu is a brilliant pharmacist and entrepreneur, a writer of the arresting quality; an unforgettable conversationist whose boldness on issues are as only she could be. Her brilliance is of unsurpassed warmth and insights.

She is a woman who has something for everyone, who also comes as good as only the best ever in creation, could.

EMEKA UKWUABA CELEBRATES!

Published

on

Dr. Emeka Ukwuaba

Born in November 1955 at Enugu-Ezike, Igbo-Eze North LGA of Enugu State barely eleven years before the civil war, Emeka Ukwuaba had his age of innocence rudely disrupted by that atrocious war, a season of anomie that truncated his journey in formal education for a couple of years.

He survived the crisis to pursue studies that culminated in the award of degrees in Natural Sciences. An accomplished Aquatic Ecologist, he held managerial positions in his State Agricultural Development Programmes and National Special Programme for Food Security, all international multilateral agencies sponsored, retiring as a Director General. His public services engagements went a notch higher as he served as a Commissioner in his state, and sat on Boards of Federal Government Parastatals thereafter.

This stirring narrative resurrects life under enemy occupation in a Biafran enclave near the Nigerian border about a people that heard the first shots of civil war, as the very first trucks and tanks of the conflicts rumbled into their once peaceful land, to discharge the jackboots under which they lived as well as died until the war ended.

Before now, nobody had told their tale, and when it is told by Emeka Ukwuaba, it is done with such direct witness fidelity to events that the reader is made to live through the horrors of the war with the ordinary people.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
